Coin Legislation Update: H.R. 1209 Passes the House

On May 14, 2009, H.R. 1209: Medal of Honor Commemorative Coin Act of 2009 passed in the House.The bill was first introduced on February 26, 2009.

This bill seeks to produce commemorative coins in recognition and celebration of the Medal of Honor. The coins would be released in 2011 and include $5 gold coins and $1 silver coins.

There is a corollary version of the bill in the Senate S.883. This bill was introduced in April 23, 2009 and referred to commmittee.
